Why travelling is the key to world peace

I follow this amazing photographer, Chris Burkard on Instagram and he posted a photo of his campfire with a simple yet extremely thought provoking message. This is what it read:

'The thing about campfires is that you always remember the conversation, tend to be more agreeable and often leave as friends. Imagine if some of the world issues and politics were discussed this way. Just a thought.'

Yes, just imagine. Everyday as we go about our daily routines we are faced with discrimination, violence, prejudice, greed and all those things which are wrong with this world.

We have deep rooted prejudices against those who are different from us and this is being used against us; to divide us and to turn us against each other.

But there is a cure!

Go out and travel. Meet people who are poles apart from you. Experience cultures and traditions which you didn't know existed. Follow the mountains and reach places which make you feel like you are on the edge of the world. Only then will you realize what's really significant in life.

And as soon as you begin, you will realize some amazing things about this world:

1. This world is beautiful.
2. There are more good people than bad people.
3. Each person really just wants to be happy.
4. All cultures and religions are beautiful.
5. There is enough for everyone's need but not for everyone's greed.
6. Nature is more powerful than anything else on this planet.
7. Race, color, religion, caste, gender, etc. can't divide us.
8. We are all one.

The world is a different place when you are sitting thousands of miles away from home, yet you are at peace. That is the moment when you stop caring about insignificant things and start reveling in the mutual weirdness which we all share.

Travel is the key to world peace.
